DNN-Based FES Control for Gait Rehabilitation of Hemiplegic Patients

چکیده
In this study, we proposed a novel machine-learning-based functional electrical stimulation (FES) control algorithm to enhance gait rehabilitation in post-stroke hemiplegic patients. The of the muscles on paretic side was controlled via deep neural networks, which were trained using muscle activity data from healthy people during gait. performance developed system comparison with that conventional FES method tested human subjects.

An Fes-assisted Gait Training System for Hemiplegic Stroke Patients Based on Inertial Sensors
An inertial sensor mounted on the foot of the affected body side represents an alternative to traditional foot switches in Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES)assisted gait rehabilitation systems. The inertial sensor consisting of 3 gyroscopes and 3 accelerometers can be utilised to detect gait phases which can be applied to synchronise the electrical stimulation with the gait. Additionally,...

Conclusions: The Kineassist is a device that allows clinicians and patients to safely perform gait and balance exercises while allowing the clinician to focus on training cues rather than fall protection. The system minimizes disturbance forces and allows patients to move relatively unimpeded during functional tasks and only interferes when loss of balance occurs. However, trajectories are slow...
متن کاملDesign of Fuzzy Controller of the Cycle-to-Cycle Control for Swing Phase of Hemiplegic Gait Induced by FES
The goal of this study was to design a practical fuzzy controller of the cycle-to-cycle control for multi-joint movements of swing phase of functional electrical stimulation (FES) induced gait. First, we designed three fuzzy controllers (a fixed fuzzy controller, a fuzzy controller with parameter adjustment based on the gradient descent method, and a fuzzy controller with parameter adjustment b...
متن کاملMotion estimation for gait rehabilitation of hemiplegic patients using principal components analysis
In gait rehabilitation of hemiplegic patients by means of a robotic orthosis, a major challenge resides in cooperative control. The patient should not simply be moved, but rather be assisted in his motions. Ideally, the controller should thus detect the patient's intention and actuate his paretic limbs coordinately. Recently, good results have been achieved with impedance control, which gives t...
متن کاملA Personalized Multi-Channel FES Controller Based on Muscle Synergies to Support Gait Rehabilitation after Stroke
It has been largely suggested in neuroscience literature that to generate a vast variety of movements, the Central Nervous System (CNS) recruits a reduced set of coordinated patterns of muscle activities, defined as muscle synergies. Recent neurophysiological studies have recommended the analysis of muscle synergies to finely assess the patient's impairment, to design personalized interventions...
